Coratia Technologies Raises Rs 5 Cr Led By Piper Serica – BW Disrupt
Deeptech startup Coratia Technologies, an indigenous underwater robotics company, has raised Rs 5 crore (around USD 563,000) in a funding round led by Piper Serica Angel Fund. The infusion strengthens Coratia’s growth plans as it scales advanced subsea systems for defence and industrial applications.
Use of Funds
The fresh capital will be deployed to accelerate in-house research and development, expand manufacturing capacity, upgrade product lines, and pursue international opportunities. Coratia aims to deepen its technological edge while building a robust production pipeline to meet growing domestic and global demand.
Momentum from Defence Contract and Prior Investments
The investment comes on the heels of Coratia’s Rs 66 crore contract from the Indian Navy for its indigenously developed Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (UWROV), Jalasimha. The company’s existing investors, including MGF Kavachh and Pontaq Ventures, previously invested over Rs 17 crore in July 2025, bolstering India’s autonomy in subsea and defence robotics.
About the Company
Founded by Debendra Pradhan and Biswajit Swain and incubated at NIT Rourkela, Coratia builds autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles designed for mission-critical tasks. Its flagship lineup includes Jalasimha, Jaladuta, Oceanus, and Navya, which are deployed for surveillance, inspection, and maintenance operations across challenging underwater environments.
Projects and Global Outreach
Headquartered in Odisha, Coratia has executed projects with Indian Railways and IOCL Paradip. The company was also invited to Brunei Darussalam to demonstrate its subsea robotic systems for offshore oil and gas infrastructure, underscoring its capability to serve international energy and maritime sectors.
Outlook
With the latest funding, Coratia seeks to scale production and advance its technology roadmap, positioning India as a global hub for underwater robotics. The company aims to contribute meaningfully to strategic defence initiatives and the broader blue economy by delivering reliable, high-performance subsea systems.
