Asset analysis platform Trendspek bans $6 million to keep critical infrastructure upright

Infrastructure software company Trendspek has secured $6 million to accelerate its push into North America and Europe and to enhance the AI that powers its asset-condition analysis platform. The round was led by OIF Ventures and follows a $6.3 million Series A completed in December 2022.

Fuel for global expansion and product acceleration

The fresh capital will fund hiring, product development, and expanded customer support in overseas markets where Trendspek is already active. The company’s footprint includes work with Suncor Energy in Canada and the Port of Rotterdam, underscoring growing international demand for faster, safer, and more reliable infrastructure inspections.

Aviation rigor for ground assets

Founded in 2019 by former Qantas pilots Derek Feebrey, Fiona Church, and Mitch Deam, Trendspek applies aviation-style maintenance discipline—where every component carries a known service history—to large-scale infrastructure. The platform consolidates inspection data from drones, robotics, and handheld devices into a detailed 3D record, typically generated within hours. Engineers and maintenance teams can then mark defects, attach notes, measure changes, and track repairs directly on the digital model.

This “single source of truth” approach addresses a common pain point for asset owners: inspection findings often live across PDFs, spreadsheets, and individual know-how, making it difficult to build a clear, longitudinal picture of asset health and deterioration.

Adoption and impact

Trendspek’s customers span ports, energy, and telecommunications, including Chevron, Woodside Energy, NSW Ports, Grain LNG, and Vocus. Revenue from critical infrastructure customers has grown at an average of 165% annually over the past three years. More than 860 organizations now use the platform to access over 1,700 sites digitally, with upwards of 128,000 virtual site visits completed to date.

Customers report measurable efficiency and safety gains:

• NSW Ports has reduced the cost of a full jetty inspection by about two-thirds and shortened timelines from months to weeks.
• Vocus has halved site mobilization time by shifting more inspections to drone-based workflows and digital review.
• Engineering firm WGA has cut inspection times on large container cranes by roughly 50%.

In many cases, drones and robotics remove the need for high-risk work at height or over water, while virtual site visits reduce travel and mobilization costs. The result is a more consistent record of asset condition, faster decision-making, and fewer operational disruptions.

Confronting the infrastructure squeeze

The scale of the challenge is intensifying. Globally, the infrastructure investment gap is projected to reach US$15 trillion by 2040. At the same time, Infrastructure Australia forecasts a shortage of 141,000 infrastructure workers. With limited capital to rebuild and not enough engineers to maintain aging assets using traditional methods, organizations are under pressure to extend the safe, productive life of what already exists.

Trendspek positions its platform as a “condition layer” for critical assets—bridging the gap between abundant raw inspection data and a usable, shared understanding of asset integrity. By giving owners and operators a continuous, visual, and measurable history of each structure, the platform helps prioritize interventions, verify that repairs are effective, and plan maintenance with greater confidence.

AI-driven inspection at scale

Having accumulated seven years of inspection data, the company is now deepening its AI capabilities. The focus is on reducing the time engineers spend reviewing imagery by training models to flag likely defects, highlight changes between inspections, and surface areas that merit closer human attention. The intent is not to replace expert judgment but to direct it where it is most needed, speeding up reviews and improving consistency across large, distributed portfolios.

As more inspections are conducted, the condition record becomes richer and more predictive—informing maintenance decisions and budget planning while raising safety and reliability standards.
