Air Peace acquires another Embraer 190 AIRC, strengthens fleet expansion drive

Air Peace Limited, West and Central Africa’s largest airline, has welcomed another Embraer 190 to its growing fleet, elevating its Embraer count to 18 aircraft. The delivery reinforces the carrier’s strategic acquisition and expansion programme, which also features Embraer’s latest E2 series—where Air Peace is the launch customer in Africa. It is the airline’s eighth aircraft addition in 2026, underscoring the pace of its ongoing growth.

The 96-seat jet arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, at about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with Captain Mrs. Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide at the controls. The aircraft has been named after Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mutiu Sunmonu, former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)—the first time Air Peace is naming an aircraft outside the Onyema family.

This new Embraer complements a diverse fleet that also includes Boeing aircraft deployed across domestic, regional and international routes. In addition to the Embraer arrivals, Air Peace has acquired five Boeing 737-800s this year, reflecting a deliberate strategy to build capacity across multiple aircraft types and right-size operations for different markets.

Cabin layout and onboard comfort

The latest Embraer 190 is configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats. Business Class features a 1-2 layout for enhanced personal space and privacy, while the 2-2 arrangement in Economy removes the middle seat entirely. Passengers can expect generous legroom, a spacious cabin environment and the convenience of in-seat power sockets.

Fleet strategy and network resilience

With 18 Embraer aircraft now in operation, alongside a growing Boeing portfolio, Air Peace continues to strengthen its network flexibility and schedule resilience. The airline’s diversified fleet enables efficient deployment of the right aircraft across routes in Nigeria, throughout Africa and on international services, supporting reliable connectivity and tailored capacity.

According to the airline, the arrival of another Embraer 190 is a deliberate step in its long-term expansion plan, reinforcing investments in fleet growth and network development. Each acquisition is aligned with Air Peace’s broader objective to expand market reach, enhance operational efficiency and improve the customer experience.

Expanding connectivity at home and abroad

As the fleet grows, Air Peace remains focused on deepening connectivity within Nigeria, extending its footprint across Africa and bolstering its international operations. Continued investments in aircraft, network expansion and operational capability are designed to meet rising demand, strengthen route performance and deliver a reliable, passenger-centric service.

The latest Embraer 190 underscores Air Peace’s commitment to building a modern, strategically balanced fleet that supports its evolving network and long-term growth ambitions.
