UAE-based Bloomspoon backs regional expansion via funding from Shark Tank
Dubai-based startup Bloomspoon has successfully secured an investment valued at AED 800,000, acquiring this substantial backing in exchange for a 49% equity stake during Season 3 of Shark Tank Dubai. The deal was made with Toufic Kreidieh, the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of the Brands for Less (BFL Group).
Bloomspoon was founded in 2023 by Mostafa Khattab and has made notable strides in sustainability. The company specializes in creating reusable cutlery from wheat straw that is embedded with seed capsules. These innovative products allow users to plant them after use, promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle.
With this new influx of funding, Bloomspoon is set to expand its presence across the region. The company aims to grow its range of products, enhance its retail presence, and achieve the esteemed B Corp certification, further establishing its commitment to social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Bloomspoon is groundbreaking in its endeavor as the world’s first brand to introduce plantable cutlery. By crafting reusable utensils from wheat straw and incorporating a water-soluble seed capsule, the used cutlery can be planted to grow herbs like basil and mint. This transforms single-use waste into a sustainable lifestyle choice.
Founder Mostafa Khattab shared insights on the strategic partnership with Mr. Kreidieh and the BFL Group. He emphasized that this collaboration is not just about financial investment; the strategic value contributed by Mr. Kreidieh is pivotal in scaling the impact Bloomspoon intends to achieve.
