Da Nang has launched the Da Nang – Daegu Business Lounge at the Da Nang Startup Support Center, opening a new channel for cooperation in science, technology, and innovation with the Republic of Korea (RoK).
Speaking at the inauguration, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu described the lounge as an important milestone in ties between the two cities. He emphasized that building international collaboration hubs is central to Da Nang’s strategy to expand its global innovation network.
Designed as a showcase and meeting point, the lounge will present representative technologies, products, and solutions from Daegu while serving as a bridge for businesses, research institutes, universities, and startup organizations from both localities. Its goals include strengthening connections, sharing experience, facilitating technology transfer, promoting investment, and developing new markets.
According to city leaders, Vietnam is entering a new phase of development driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, in line with Politburo Resolution No. 57. Reflecting this orientation, Da Nang is pursuing a vision to become an innovative city by cultivating an open innovation ecosystem, linking with major global technology hubs, and attracting international resources and enterprises to invest and operate locally.
Through the new space, Da Nang expects to promote joint programs in pioneering sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital technology, smart cities, smart manufacturing, digital transformation, and green technology. The initiative is intended to give RoK companies deeper insight into the Vietnamese market while helping local firms integrate more effectively into global value chains.
The city affirmed its commitment to maintain a favorable investment environment, improve its innovation ecosystem, and support international partners throughout their research, investment, and development activities in Da Nang.
At the launch, representatives of businesses from Da Nang and Daegu exchanged memorandums of understanding to advance technology transfer, market expansion, and investment opportunities for Vietnamese and RoK enterprises.
