Sanjeev Arora Inaugurates Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels in Mohali

A New Milestone for Mohali–Chandigarh’s Hospitality Landscape

Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels Limited, Mohali–Chandigarh, has been formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Shri Sanjeev Arora, marking a significant addition to the region’s premium hospitality offerings. The hotel is set to serve as a welcoming gateway for visitors, investors, and business travellers to Punjab, reflecting the area’s expanding economic and institutional profile.

The ceremony began with a ribbon-cutting by the Hon’ble Minister, followed by the traditional lamp-lighting to signify prosperity and new beginnings. The event was attended by distinguished industry leaders including Mr. Anil Chadha, Managing Director, ITC Hotels Limited; Mr. Bhupinder Singh Gujral, Managing Director, Gujral Group; and Mr. Gaganjeet Singh Gujral, alongside senior officials and esteemed guests.

Government Signals Strong Support for Hospitality Growth

Addressing the gathering, Minister Sanjeev Arora welcomed the addition of Welcomhotel to Mohali’s skyline and underscored the city’s rapid evolution into one of North India’s fastest-growing hubs. With the expansion of IT City, Aerocity, healthcare institutions, universities, and convention infrastructure, he noted a sustained rise in both domestic and international footfall.

He highlighted the growing need for high-quality hotel rooms to accommodate business delegations, global investors, tourists, and large-scale events. Emphasising that Mohali is on the cusp of transformative growth, the Minister pointed to the city’s strengthening ecosystems in IT, education, healthcare, and industry as drivers of demand for world-class hospitality infrastructure.

The Minister reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s commitment to fostering a highly enabling environment for hospitality investments through transparent approvals, policy support, and ease of doing business. He also shared that the State is actively exploring the adaptive reuse of suitable heritage and institutional properties to encourage responsible hospitality development—promoting tourism while preserving cultural assets.

Industry Leaders Endorse Mohali’s Strategic Advantage

Mr. Bhupinder Singh Gujral expressed gratitude to the Government of Punjab for its facilitative and responsive approach. He noted that Mohali’s evolving business and tourism ecosystem makes it an ideal destination for premium hospitality projects, and described the hotel as a proud contribution to the State’s development story.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Anil Chadha underlined ITC Hotels’ commitment to expanding in high-growth markets. He cited Mohali’s strategic location, robust infrastructure, and strong economic momentum as compelling reasons for bringing a world-class hospitality offering to the city.

Empowering Jobs, MSMEs, and Investment

Minister Arora emphasized that hospitality-led growth is a vital pillar of Punjab’s economic roadmap. The sector, he said, generates substantial employment across skill levels, supports MSMEs through integrated supply chains, and enhances the overall investment appeal of emerging growth centres like Mohali. The inauguration of Welcomhotel aligns with this vision by increasing visitor capacity, improving service quality, and reinforcing the State’s readiness for larger conferences, exhibitions, and global collaborations.

A Symbolic Start to a Vibrant Future

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a symbolic key and memento, formally marking the commencement of operations. The moment celebrated a shared aspiration: welcoming growth, elevating visitor experiences, and shaping a vibrant hospitality future for Mohali and Punjab.
