OpenAI Rolls Out Cheapest ChatGPT Plan in India with 10x Messages, Images

ChatGPT maker OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan exclusive to India, named ChatGPT Go, aimed at expanding its reach in one of its largest markets. Priced at ₹399 per month, this plan is OpenAI’s most affordable offering yet, designed to cater to a broader audience while providing enhanced capabilities.

ChatGPT Go offers its subscribers the ability to send up to ten times more messages and create ten times more images compared to the free version. Users can also enjoy faster response times, with higher-tier subscriptions available for greater usage limits. This makes it an attractive option for users who demand more from their ChatGPT experience without a hefty price tag.

The plan includes everything from the free version and augments it with access to GPT-5, OpenAI’s flagship model. This allows users more personalized conversation experiences with extended memory. Additionally, subscribers gain expanded access to image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis tools such as Python. The plan also supports project management, task handling, and custom GPTs, enabling users to apply AI in more flexible and creative ways.

OpenAI’s introduction of ChatGPT Go is a strategic move to appeal to price-sensitive consumers in India’s vast internet market, which numbers close to a billion users. This initiative reflects the broader trend of global tech companies tailoring affordable subscription models to capture and expand their user base in such burgeoning markets.

OpenAI’s current premium offerings in India, apart from ChatGPT Go, include ChatGPT Plus at ₹1,999 per month and the more comprehensive ChatGPT Pro at ₹19,900 per month, catering to a wide range of needs and budgets.

Earlier this year, discussions about developing a low-cost AI ecosystem were held between OpenAI’s CEO and India’s IT minister. With predictions that India might soon overtake the United States as OpenAI’s largest user base, the launch of ChatGPT Go is timely.

India has swiftly become OpenAI’s second-largest and fastest-growing market with a significant increase in active users, highlighting the country’s rapid adoption and growing interest in advanced AI technologies.
