Perplexity Computer: An AI Revolution for Seamless Project Management and Collaboration

Perplexity launches AI ‘Computer’ to research, code and manage projects ‘end-to-end’ – CNBC TV18

Perplexity AI has unveiled “Perplexity Computer,” a task-focused platform that brings together research, design, coding, deployment, and project management into a single, orchestrated system. The company said the goal is to move beyond single-model assistants and deliver a coordinated workspace that can push entire projects forward from start to finish.

A multi-model system designed for complex work

Unlike traditional AI tools that rely on one model for everything, Perplexity Computer is built as a massively multi-model platform. It can route work across 19 different models, selecting the best one for each sub-task and running them in parallel when needed. That orchestration approach aims to combine strengths—one model might reason, another might code, another might write—so the overall result is faster and more reliable.

CEO Aravind Srinivas described the philosophy as treating models like a coordinated ensemble: files, tools, memory, and models work together rather than in isolation. The focus is on matching the right capability to the right step in a workflow, then stitching those steps into an end-to-end process.

Built-in memory, tools, and connectors

Perplexity Computer includes persistent memory to keep track of prior work, access to files, web browsing, and hundreds of integrations. It is designed to be personal and secure, with default settings intended to safeguard user data. By retaining context and connecting to the resources a project needs, the system aims to help users move seamlessly from idea to execution without manual handoffs between tools.

From single tasks to many active projects

The company is positioning the platform for users who juggle multiple initiatives. It’s meant to scale from handling one-off tasks to coordinating dozens or even hundreds of active projects at the same time. Perplexity has also introduced a live showcase of curated Computer tasks to demonstrate real-world scenarios and outcomes.

Pricing, credits, and controls

Perplexity Computer uses a usage-based pricing model. Users can pick which models handle which sub-tasks and set spending caps to manage token consumption. Max subscribers receive 10,000 credits per month included with their plan. In addition, Perplexity is offering a one-time 20,000-credit bonus for existing customers at launch and for new signups, with the bonus expiring after 30 days.

Availability and rollout

The product is available on the web for Max subscribers starting February 25. Following initial load testing, Perplexity plans to extend access to Pro and Enterprise customers.

The broader vision: AI as “the computer”

Perplexity frames this release as a step toward AI that operates like a full computer in the cloud—capable of orchestrating file systems, command-line tools, real-time internet access, and personal connectors on a user’s behalf. The long-term vision is that AI won’t just assist with discrete tasks; it will manage and run entire workflows while you focus on outcomes.

With Perplexity Computer, the startup is aiming to evolve from an AI search experience into a comprehensive, cloud-based working environment—one that coordinates specialized models and tools to deliver end-to-end project execution.
