Arvind Goenka elected as northern region chairman: FIEO
New Delhi, September 22: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has announced the election of Arvind Goenka, Managing Director of RMG Polyvinyl India, as the chairman for its northern region.
Goenka said his priority will be to strengthen the ecosystem for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), describing them as the backbone of India’s export engine. He outlined a roadmap aimed at enhancing competitiveness, broadening the exporter base, and easing operational challenges through closer coordination with stakeholders and government bodies.
His agenda emphasizes:
- Promoting value-added exports across industries to boost global competitiveness.
- Encouraging new and emerging exporters to enter international markets.
- Addressing procedural and logistical bottlenecks through structured dialogue with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
- Rolling out capacity-building programs focused on compliance, packaging, and international marketing.
- Advocating for infrastructure upgrades, including better testing facilities, logistics hubs, and warehousing.
- Supporting MSMEs beyond major metros, with a focus on businesses in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Goenka noted that equipping smaller enterprises with practical knowledge and resources will help them meet global standards, reduce costs, and improve market access. He also highlighted the need for a stronger ecosystem that includes quality certification, faster clearances, and improved supply chain support to help exporters scale sustainably.
FIEO, the apex body representing Indian exporters, plays a key role in policy advocacy, trade promotion, and capacity building. With Goenka’s appointment, the northern region is expected to intensify efforts to widen the export base, strengthen compliance readiness, and unlock opportunities in high-growth global markets.
