Tinubu Changes Uzoka-Anite Ministerial Portfolio For Third Time In Three Years
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has again reshuffled the cabinet portfolio of Doris Uzoka-Anite, marking the third change to her assignment in as many years. Since joining the Federal Executive Council in August 2023, Uzoka-Anite has moved through three different ministries, reflecting an ongoing pattern of realignment within the administration.
Uzoka-Anite first entered the cabinet as the substantive Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment in August 2023. After roughly 14 months in that position, the presidency redeployed her and appointed Jumoke Oduwole to lead the ministry. The switch effectively shifted Uzoka-Anite from a senior ministerial role to a junior position within the federal cabinet structure.
In October 2024, she was reassigned to the Federal Ministry of Finance as Minister of State, working under Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. At the time, Edun expressed confidence that her experience would reinforce the administration’s economic reforms and policy implementation efforts.
Uzoka-Anite has now been moved once more—this time to the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning—where she will serve as Minister of State under Atiku Bagudu. The fresh redeployment underscores a steady rhythm of cabinet adjustments affecting her portfolio since the start of the Tinubu administration.
While the presidency has not provided detailed public reasoning for each change, the repeated reassignments suggest a continued effort to reposition personnel to meet evolving policy priorities. For Uzoka-Anite, the latest move offers another opportunity to contribute to core economic management, this time focused on budget formulation and long-term planning.

Profile and professional background
Before joining the federal cabinet, Uzoka-Anite served for about two and a half years as the Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy in Imo State. Her role there combined fiscal oversight with broader economic coordination, providing experience she later brought to the national stage.
A graduate of the University of Benin, she spent nearly two decades in the private sector prior to her transition into public service. Her career began in the health sector, where she worked as a medical officer at Providence Hospital from June to October 2002.
She subsequently moved into banking, joining Zenith Bank as an assistant banking officer and progressing through various roles to become Group Head of Treasury. She held that position until March 2021, after which she transitioned fully into government service.
As Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Uzoka-Anite is expected to support fiscal policy coordination, budget execution monitoring, and medium-term economic planning. Her experience across finance and industry may prove useful as the government pursues growth, stabilization, and reform objectives.
The latest redeployment highlights the administration’s willingness to recalibrate its cabinet to align with shifting priorities. For Uzoka-Anite, it marks another significant chapter in a fast-evolving public service career that spans health, banking, state-level finance leadership, and multiple federal ministerial roles.
