ED Attaches ₹13 Crore Properties in Chhangur Baba Money Laundering Case – The Indian Awaaz
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached 13 immovable properties worth ₹13.02 crore in Utraula, Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged money laundering activities linked to Chhangur Baba. The properties were allegedly acquired in the name of Nitu Navin Rohra, wife of Dubai-based businessman Navin Rohra.
According to the ED’s Lucknow Zonal Office, the investigation stems from an FIR registered by ATS Lucknow under multiple sections of the IPC. The FIR alleges a coordinated conspiracy involving unlawful religious conversions, foreign funding, and activities deemed to pose a potential threat to national security.
Authorities allege that Chhangur Baba and his associates operated from the Chand Auliya Dargah in Balrampur, where gatherings reportedly included both Indian and foreign nationals. He is accused of inducing and coercing vulnerable groups—particularly members of Scheduled Castes and economically weaker Hindu communities—into religious conversion.
The ED’s probe further alleges that Chhangur Baba and Navin Rohra conspired to move funds into India through United Marine FZE, a Dubai-based company owned by Rohra. Approximately ₹21.08 crore was purportedly routed via Rohra’s NRE/NRO bank accounts and subsequently invested in real estate held in his wife’s name.
Investigators state that the 13 attached properties form part of a broader financial network used to launder foreign funds for unlawful activities. The attachment is provisional, and the agency has indicated that efforts are underway to trace additional assets and map the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
The ED has arrested Chhangur Baba (July 28, 2025) and Navin Rohra (August 4, 2025). Both remain in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
