Barcelona-based Health Force raises €4.2 million to streamline hospital operations with AI agents
Health Force, a HealthTech startup headquartered in Barcelona, has secured €4.2 million in Seed funding to scale its enterprise-grade AI agents designed to automate hospital operations. The round was led by LUMO Labs, with participation from Step Venture, Next Tier Ventures, Target Global, and Calm/Storm.
Founded in Vienna in 2022 by Fadi Haddad and Dr. Juan Suárez, Health Force is building what it calls the operations layer for European hospitals—software agents that handle routine administrative and operational tasks so clinical and back-office teams can focus on higher-value work. The company says its approach helps reduce costs, minimize errors, and accelerate throughput across critical workflows.
Tackling the capacity gap in European healthcare
Hospitals across Europe face increasing demand for care while hiring and retaining operational staff has become more difficult. This imbalance often leads to backlogs, delays, and rising administrative burdens on already stretched teams. Health Force’s solution targets that bottleneck with AI agents that take on end-to-end processes under human oversight, aiming to improve efficiency without adding yet another dashboard or tool for staff to learn.
How the AI agents work
According to the company, its pre-trained agents “join” hospital teams much like a new staff member would: they use hospital-issued computers and logins, sign into existing software systems, and complete tasks from start to finish. The platform is built with a deterministic-first design, which the company says ensures that every action is traceable and auditable—an important consideration for healthcare compliance and safety.
Today, the agents are used to run hospital–insurance operations end-to-end, including:
- Prior-authorization checks
- Claims processing
- Regulatory and quality reporting
- Other routine operational workflows
Health Force reports that around three out of four cases are completed fully autonomously. For the remaining cases, the agent prepares all necessary context and flags what requires human validation, reducing the time staff need to resolve exceptions.
Addressing fragmentation across European markets
The platform is designed to work within the variety of systems and processes found across Europe. Health Force notes that the same foundation powering hospital–insurance workflows in Italy also supports SICA reporting in Portugal, with plans to tackle KHVVG reporting in Germany next. By standardizing on one platform for multiple country-specific needs, the company aims to simplify vendor management for hospital groups operating in diverse regulatory environments.
Traction and footprint
Health Force is headquartered in Barcelona with an operations hub in Milan. Its agents are already deployed across leading Italian hospital groups, including Humanitas and Gruppo San Donato, and currently handle more than 200,000 patient cases per year. In Portugal, the platform is used for hospital quality reporting, demonstrating its versatility across different administrative domains.
Funding use and growth plans
The Seed capital will be directed toward expanding Health Force’s catalogue of AI agents into additional workflows such as:
- Quality and regulatory reporting
- Clinical-trial operations
- Resource and capacity optimization
The company also plans to grow its engineering and delivery teams and expand its market presence in Germany, France, and Spain.
Investor perspective
Investors cited Health Force’s ability to operate within complex, legacy-bound hospital environments as a key differentiator, emphasizing the importance of secure, reliable automation that integrates into tools hospitals already use. Backers also noted the company’s traction with major European healthcare providers as a strong foundation for scaling the platform to new workflows and markets.
By focusing on practical, auditable automation that takes real work off hospital teams’ plates, Health Force aims to narrow the operational capacity gap and help health systems do more with existing resources—without adding complexity for staff.
