The Role: Scouting Manager, Nairobi
As part of the Antler Nairobi team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the early-stage innovation landscape in Africa. You will identify exceptional founders, build strong pipelines, and support the journey from idea to investable startup. Expect to work closely with driven individuals, accomplished entrepreneurs, and future startup leaders—while gaining unparalleled exposure to early-stage venture building.
Core Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate high-potential founders and teams across diverse sectors and backgrounds.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospective founders through outreach, events, partnerships, and referrals.
- Lead and refine scouting processes, including screening, interviews, and selection for cohorts.
- Develop strategic relationships with universities, tech communities, incubators, and industry partners.
- Organize and participate in community engagements, info sessions, and demo-style events to attract top talent.
- Collaborate with the investment and program teams to assess founder-market fit and traction.
- Own data-driven reporting on pipeline health, funnel performance, and scouting effectiveness.
- Maintain CRM hygiene and ensure accurate, timely candidate records.
- Contribute to market mapping and thematic research to identify emerging opportunities.
- Champion an inclusive approach that surfaces outstanding founders from non-traditional paths.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in founder sourcing, talent acquisition, venture capital, accelerator programs, community building, or related roles.
- Strong network across the African tech ecosystem and an instinct for spotting exceptional entrepreneurial talent.
- Proven ability to run structured pipelines, prioritize effectively, and deliver against targets.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging senior operators, repeat founders, and first-time entrepreneurs.
- Analytical mindset with familiarity using CRMs, data dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Curiosity about technology trends and a passion for empowering ambitious founders.
- High ownership, bias to action, and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
